Julian Royse - Auctioneer/Specialist

Hi I'm Julian. 

I have been involved with toys seriously since 1985, being firstly a collector, then part time dealer, before becoming a cataloguer of all different genres of toys in 1997.

I decided to become a full time toy dealer in 2007 which led to a 7 year break, but an opportunity to catalogue Ralph Richter’s Matchbox Toy collection from Germany led me back in 2014. This particular sale set a new benchmark for Matchbox Toys, and I stayed on to build up the Matchbox department, only leaving in 2024, but not before I had the privilege and excitement of cataloguing and auctioning my good friend Graham Hamilton’s absolutely phenomenal picture box collection during 2021.

Having conducted my first sale as auctioneer way back in April 1997, I now have getting on for 3 decades of experience bringing the hammer down, achieving many world record prices over those years, particularly so with Matchbox Toys. However, it’s not just models, as I’ve also auctioned full size classic cars, motorcycles & automobilia since 2010, with plenty of highlights and fun in the saleroom over those years. Auctioning Arthur Daley’s Daimler Sovereign & Terry McCann’s Ford Capri from the TV series “Minder” and Bodie’s Ford Capri from the TV Series “The Professionals” being just a couple of standout moments amongst many.

I’m currently Head auctioneer at Manor Park Classics in Cheshire having been involved with its conception and start up during the pandemic in 2020 & 2021… and now it’s time for another new venture here at Oberon Auctions.
